Register for the AETCA
Welcome to the registration page for the Audio Engineering Technical Competency Assessment (AETCA). By registering for the AETCA, you are taking the first step toward validating your knowledge and skills in the audio engineering field. Whether you are seeking to demonstrate your technical ability to employers or advancing your own professional development, the AETCA is a fantastic place to start.
Before registering, please ensure that you have thoroughly read the entire Get Started page.
To begin the registration process, please select the type of AETCA for which you wish to register from the options below.
If you are registering for a retake or renewal, then you will be asked to provide your AETCA Examinee ID number. If you do not remember your examinee number, please contact us.
Important
If your employer, school, a job recruiter, or other professional has requested that you take the AETCA, then you will use their AETCA Employer ID in the promotion code field on the checkout page. This will ensure that you receive the appropriate discount or fee wavier.
Where Fees Go
The AETCA is committed to supporting the next generation of artists, performers, and musicians, and to maintaining transparency about how your money is used. Approximately 85% of the fees we collect are donated directly to organizations that promote, support, and encourage theater and the performing arts across the United States. The remaining 15% goes toward paying staff, maintaining the website, and managing the necessary IT systems.
These organizations include, but are not limited to, the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE), and Behind the Scenes.
Fee Waivers
If you have been granted a partial fee waiver or discount, you will be provided with a unique coupon code that you may use within the checkout platform to redeem your discount.
After You're Registered
Accessing the Assessment – Within 24 to 48 hours of completing registration, you will be granted access to the AETCA site on Canvas, the online learning management platform used for administering the assessment.
